Spe­cial hol­i­day tune in alert for Thir­teen's Great Per­form­ances Presents “Cel­eb­ración! - Gust­avo Du­damel and the LA Phil with Juan Diego Flórez” for Wed­nes­day, Decem­ber 29, 9 p.m. ET on PBS.

The open­ing night gala con­cert is to be hos­ted by act­ress Eva Mendes, and fea­tures the Per­uvi­an ten­or in a con­cert of bel canto arias and Lat­in Amer­ic­an can­ciones un­der the bat­on of Los Angeles Phil­har­mon­ic Mu­sic Dir­ect­or Gust­avo Du­damel.

Fol­low­ing the great suc­cess of the In­aug­ur­al Con­cert from 2009, BFMI has now re­cor­ded the Los Angeles Phil­har­mon­ic Sea­son Open­ing Gala, not only in HD but also the very first time in 3D tech­no­logy. Hats off to every­body in­volved in mas­ter­ing this or­gan­iz­a­tion­al chal­lenge with such ef­fi­cient plan­ning and tech­nic­al ex­pert­ise. We would like to take this op­por­tun­ity to thank the Los Angeles Phil­har­mon­ic for the ex­cel­lent co­oper­a­tion. Fur­ther­more, thanks to the sup­port provided by Panason­ic US and Mod­ern Video Film the tech­nic­al real­iz­a­tion of this pro­ject was im­ple­men­ted suc­cess­fully. Now lets go edit! Flórez and Du­damel, close friends off the con­cert stage, de­veloped the spe­cial lineup of bel canto arias and pop­u­lar Lat­in Amer­ic­an can­ciones by Rossini, Granda, Lara, Mon­cayo, Gre­ver, Gutiérrez and Márquez for Cel­eb­ración! Gust­avo Du­damel and the LA Phil with Juan Diego Flórez. The pro­gram aired on 3sat on Oc­to­ber 9. The host of the Gala was Kat­rin Bauer­feind.
