As one of sport’s most visible ambassadors and a big loyal soccer fan himself, Plácido Domingo returns to Rio de Janeiro for the the biggest international event of the year: the finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It is a spectacular evening from the HSBC Arena in Barra de Tijuca featuring Lang Lang, the soprano Ana María Martínez, and Brazil’s own Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, conducted by Eugene Kohn. The programme includes highlights from Domingo’s operatic repertoire as well as an array of pieces from other genres ranging from operetta, Broadway, Zarzuela and popular music from around the world.
“I always think music and sport are the two great things many people can understand without any need to really speak the language.” - Plácido Domingo
