Join us for this tribute to the extraordinaire composer John Williams, featuring mutual friends Itzhak Perlman, Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
John Williams is one of the most popular and successful American orchestral composers of the modern age. With his instantly recognizable scores, Williams has redefined the art of film music. He makes audiences cheer, brings them to tears and keeps them on the edge of their seats.
Best known for his film scores and ceremonial music (such as the 1984 Olympic Fanfare), Williams has composed the music for nearly eighty films in a career spanning over six decades. John Williams is the winner of 5 Academy Awards, 17 Grammys, 3 Golden Globes, 2 Emmys and 5 BAFTA Awards.
This celebration includes some of John Williams’ beloved movie hits performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel. The LA Phil’s opening concert features Itzhak Perlman with a very special musical performance of pieces from Schindler’s List as well as the Cadenza and variations form Fiddler on the Roof. Jazz-elements will fill the air during Escapades from Catch Me if You Can, and may the force be with you during the iconic tunes from Star Wars.
