This CD-Box is ded­ic­ated to the Cam­erata Salzburg, one of the world’s highly ac­claimed cham­ber or­ches­tras, cel­eb­rat­ing their 50^th An­niversary in 2002. The box con­tains 3 CDs, each of them fo­cus­sing on the or­ches­tra’s mu­sic­al dir­ect­ors: Bernhard Paumgart­ner, Sándor Végh and Sir Ro­ger Nor­ring­ton. The re­cord­ings also in­clude mu­sic­al high­lights with Helen Donath, José van Dam, Leo­pold Si­moneau, Cyn­thia Sieden, Chris­ti­ane Oelze & Al­fred Brendel.

"I would like to of­fer the Cam­erata Salzburg my hearty con­grat­u­la­tions on its fiftieth birth­day and on the CDs which mark the oc­ca­sion. Whilst still a stu­dent, I had the good for­tune of be­ing present when the Cam­erata Aca­dem­ica (as it was called at the time) was foun­ded, and was able to at­tend many of its won­der­ful con­certs un­der the bat­on of the un­for­get­table Bernhard Paumgart­ner. This happy se­lec­tion of re­cord­ings demon­strates the en­tire breadth of Paumgart­ner's artistry with out­stand­ing so­loists. Sándor Végh was more than a most highly es­teemed mu­si­cian to me; he was also a per­son­al friend, with whom I could talk in Hun­gari­an, the lan­guage of my schooldays, and share his in­terest in young mu­si­cians. The un­for­get­table con­certs giv­en dur­ing the Salzburg Fest­iv­al made an in­delible im­pres­sion upon me. The third CD doc­u­ments the Cam­erata's work with Sir Ro­ger Nor­ring­ton, a mas­ter in his field and a ver­sat­ile mu­si­cian with whom the or­ches­tra has reached new heights. Noted for his vi­va­city and par­tic­u­larly in­tel­li­gent pro­grammes, Nor­ring­ton has greatly ex­pan­ded the Cam­erata's rep­er­toire.
