This is the recording of a breathtaking concert from the Musikverein Wien with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst who give energy-loaded performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 succeeding a 15-minutes introduction on the piece and its preparation. Founded by Claudio Abbado 1986 in Vienny, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra unites the most superb young musicians from all over Europe.
Lisa Batiashvili and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra play

Sergei Prokofiev
Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major, opus 19

Lisa Batiashvili is certainly one of the best violinists of her generation. Her interpretation of Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Concert No. 1 is a spectacular manifestation of the multi-faceted oeuvre of the great master. She is kindredly accompanied by the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under the guidance of Franz Welser-Möst. Batiashvili’s virtuosity and briskness truly make her performance a memorable event. The concert relay is preceeded by a 10 minutes introduction.
